Switzerland junior open

Profile

Although there is no Juniors division in Switzerland, the country does manage to build a Juniors team in time for Worlds competition as they have done for the last 10 years. Ultimate is growing in some areas of Switzerland and is well-known in grammar school, whereas it is less known in other parts. Basel and Lucerne have been particularly successful, and Basel has enough girls to form a junior girls team.

The players here are mostly inexperienced (the captain and coach wouldn't even let them go to Worlds until they had improved their throws) but they have found a way to bond as a team and get to Turku.

The players were selected from club teams in Switzerland that were contacted about juniors-age players on their squad. The players here come from Freespeed in Basel, Gnadelos in Cham, Panthers in Berne, Red I’s in Sarnen and Simon's Tooth in Lucerne.

The best thing about Ultimate, according to Coach Mosimann is, "the Spirit of the Game and playing without referees and with respect to each other."

Players to Be Aware Of:

It wouldn’t be fair to single out players on the Swiss team, so we've decided to include headshots of everyone. Teenage girls across the world, get ready to swoon. Extra swooning may be in order for #23 Lukas Schär.
