Latvia women 

Profile

Ultimate in Latvia started in 1996, and since then it has been growing successfully. Latvian Ultimate players mostly play in tournaments in Latvia and neighbouring countries. Some of the players from our women’s team have played at EUCC’01 in Prague and WUCC’02 in Hawaii. But this is the first time Latvia women have their own team in Worlds.

Goals for worlds’ – Be there! Play! Gain experience! Meet Ultimate people from the World! Enjoy the event!

The players are from four women teams, Moments, Priekuli, Salaspils and FrisBees.

Latvia on Offence

They will play a regular stack offence with different tactical variations, hoping the opponents will be surprised.

Look for these players when Latvia has the disc:

Samantha Dusele, is one of the young and coming girls in the Latvia team. The Latvia is consisting of mostly juniors and here is one of them.

Inga Bleidele, she ha a lot of experience and very good throwing techniques. Don’t under estimate her relative shortness, she runs fast, so watch out.

Aiga Grasmane, This is Mrs Frisbee in Latvia, she was in it from the beginning. With her steady throws and tactical mind she really contributes to the team, and team spirit. Give her a hug when you see her and congratulate her for making the team have the possibility to come to Worlds. She has been really working hard on that topic.

Latvia on defence:

They will play a sharp man to man defence but when wind is coming up, zone defence will be used.

Look for this player when the opponent has the disc:

Dzirkstite Zindiga, with her intensive running and crazy dives makes her an important defensive player. When does she not dive? She made an important offensive dive at the European club championships in when Latvia got their first international win in 2001.
