Australia junior open

Profile
Ultimate has been populating Australia almost
as long as it has been around as a competitive sport. Unfortunately
unlike a few countries, notably Finland, Sweden, France and the
United States, there is not much support as of yet for the sport in
grammar schools. There is a small group of schools in Sydney that
has some contact with Ultimate, but that’s about it.
“The youth are pretty excited about going, and
are selling their souls and their grandmothers to get to Turku.”
says Bruce McNaughton, one of the coaches.
Associated Club Teams
We don't have junior clubs, but we have
players from Moreton Bay Buggers, Southside, Action Men - all Open
teams.
Worlds Experience
None - this year we are sending Australia's
first-ever Junior teams.
Major Tournaments Won
Uhhh... none.
How Many Ultimate Teams in Your Country in Your
Division
In Australia, we don't yet have the player
numbers to realistically sustain a Juniors division.
Players to Look Out For
Brad and Luke - their acrobatic
distraction techniques will amaze and awe you. Meanwhile, we'll
have scored the easiest goal of the tournament while you're not
watching...
Team's Best Thrower
Luke again - no one else can throw the
'head-push-pass' with such precision or distance.
Team's Best Receiver
The other Luke. Four foot two or not,
he plays like a man twice his size. Good thing too, because most
people who guard him are twice his size. Known to soar at great
heights, and was most distressed when he couldn't have his
favourite '747' player number! (see photo)
Team's Favorite Turnover
We're masters of the Dropped Hammer-Goal.
Team's Favorite Spike or Non-Spike
Spike? Spirit Foul!! We aren't really fans of
spiking over here, unless something REALLY speccy happens. 'Driving
the bus' is pretty popular then.
The Best Thing About Ultimate Is
Spirit, layouts, Spirit, double happiness,
parties, Spirit and good sportsmanship.
Roster Size
16 at the moment (including 1 captain).
Team Colors
Green and Gold
