Welcome to the WFDF 2004 World Ultimate & Guts Championships!

The 11th World Ultimate and Guts National Championships will be held in Turku, Finland on August 1st to August 8th, 2004. The title will be pursued in divisions for men, women, mixed, masters, and the junior divisions of boys and girls under 20. National teams from 23 countries totaling 76 teams and some 1500 athletes will participate in the tournament.

The Finnish Flying Disc Association (FFDA) -- a central authority of all flying disc sports in Finland -- hosts the tournament. The FFDA was founded in 1978 and is a member of the Finnish Sports Federation. The World Ultimate and Guts Championships are sanctioned by the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF). The World Ultimate and Guts Championships have been organized since 1983.

The tournament will feature over 400 games on 19 fields in Turku, Kaarina and Raisio. The finals will be played at the Veritas stadium in Turku on August 7th.

Liitokiekon maailmanmestaruuskilpailut järjestettiin Turussa 1.-7.8.2004. Mestaruudesta kamppailtiin ultimaten miesten, naisten sekä alle 20-vuotiaiden junioreiden sarjoissa. Lisäksi turnauksessa pelattiin ultimaten masters- (yli 30-vuotiaat), mixed- (joukkueissa sekä miehiä että naisia) ja gutsin maailmanmestaruudesta. Kisoihin osallistui 23 maan maajoukkueet eri puolilta maailmaa. Yhteensä joukkueita oli 76 ja pelaajia n. 1500.

Kisojen tapahtumapaikat

Turun kisat järjesti maamme liitokiekkoilijoiden keskusjärjestö Suomen Liitokiekkoliitto ry. Vuonna 1978 perustettu Liitokiekkoliitto on SLU:n jäsenjärjestö. Liitokiekon MM-kisat myöntää lajin maailmanlaajuinen kattojärjestö World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF). Suomen lisäksi vuoden 2004 kisoja hakivat Irlanti ja Yhdysvallat. MM-kisoja on järjestetty vuodesta 1983 lähtien ja ne pidettiin nyt ensimmäistä kertaa Suomessa.
